The department of Maipú is located 15km (9mi) far from Mendoza city. At present, there are 167 wineries in Maipú, out of which 28 may be visited since they are opened for tourists. Maipu is one of the most important wine regions of argentina plantings Malbecis the region's most important planting followed closely by Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Chardonnay.
